The Dynamic Duo

Chester and Winston certainly cut dashing figures in their Halloween costumes as Batman and Robin. They tickle my heart every time I see them in the studio. A nice thing about the shelter in place has been that I’ve gotten to keep commissioned pieces around for a while and enjoy them myself.

These two were a lot of fun to sculpt and a bit of a challenge too, especially Winston, who is very fluffy. I wasn’t able to capture the wispiness of his fur but I think I caught his personality pretty well. I’m sure when they get to go home they will be a big hit there too.

How lucky we are to have furry ‘Superheroes’ that warm our hearts, bring us comfort and keep us entertained every day. There are human Superheroes in our lives too and this week I’m celebrating the wonderful surgical team from Stanford who performed my daughter’s kidney transplant and my donation. We are 4-years out now and all is well for both of us. Amanda just finished Law School – proud mom moment!

I’ve said it before but it’s worth repeating, donating was the best thing I ever did. I am grateful every day that I did it and that it was successful for everyone in our chain. If you ever have a loved one in need it is the greatest gift you can give and I’m happy to talk to you about my experience if it is something you are considering.

Not my usual type of Saturday Story but with all the stuff happening in the world, I think it is important to remember that each of us can be a hero to someone, if only in some small way. It will make the world a better and kinder place if we all tap into our Super Powers and find a way to do some good.
